ST 2110 Gateway
Channels
The gateway works in channels: each has one source and one or more outputs, and channels are independent of each other. An appliance runs outbound and inbound channels at the same time, up to the count it is sized for.
- Outbound: a set of ST 2110 flows in, compressed streams out.
- Inbound: a compressed stream in, a set of ST 2110 flows out.
ST 2110 essence
- Video per ST 2110-20: 1080i, 1080p and 2160p at 25, 29.97, 50 and 59.94 fps; 4:2:2 10-bit; narrow and wide senders per ST 2110-21
- Audio per ST 2110-30 and -31: up to 16 channels per flow, 48 kHz, 1 ms and 125 µs packet time
- Ancillary data per ST 2110-40: timecode, closed captions and subtitles, AFD, SCTE-104 triggers
- Flows described by SDP; sources picked from the discovered list or from an NMOS registry
Outbound: ST 2110 to SRT, UDP, HLS
- Video encoding to H.264 or HEVC at configurable bitrate and GOP; audio to AAC or MPEG-1 layer II; ancillary data carried in the transport stream
- MPEG-TS over UDP, unicast or multicast, with configurable PID map
- MPEG-TS over SRT in caller and listener modes, with encryption, stream ID and configurable latency
- HLS served by the appliance or written to an origin directory, with configurable segment length
- Several outputs per channel from a single encode
Inbound: UDP, SRT, RIST, RTMP, WebRTC to ST 2110
- Inputs: MPEG-TS over UDP, SRT (caller and listener), RIST main profile, RTMP publishing point, WebRTC via WHIP
- Decoding of H.264 and HEVC video, AAC and MPEG audio
- Scaling and frame-rate conversion to the facility format
- Output as ST 2110-20 video, -30 audio and -40 ancillary with timecode and captions where present in the source
- Output timed to PTP with a configurable fixed delay to absorb jitter on the input
- SDP publication and NMOS registration of every emitted flow
Redundancy and timing
- ST 2022-7 dual-stream reception on outbound channels and dual-stream emission on inbound channels
- PTP lock per ST 2059-2 with status and offset shown per appliance
- Two appliances can run the same channel set with automatic takeover of SRT and RTMP publishing points
Monitoring and management
- Per-channel state, bitrate, uptime, and for SRT outputs RTT and retransmissions
- Alerts on channel loss, input loss, PTP unlock and encoder overload
- Web interface and HTTP API for creating, changing and removing channels without affecting the others
