ST 2110 Probe

Discovery

  • Joins configured multicast ranges or the groups listed in an NMOS IS-04 registry; never transmits on the media network
  • Identifies every ST 2110-20, -30, -31 and -40 flow, reads its SDP and groups flows into sources
  • Detects flows that are present on the network but missing from the registry, and the reverse

Timing analysis

  • PTP per ST 2059-2: grandmaster identity, domain, the probe’s own offset, and a history of grandmaster changes
  • RTP timestamp against PTP time for every flow
  • ST 2110-21 sender type (narrow, narrow linear, wide) and compliance measurement per video flow
  • Alignment between the video, audio and ancillary flows of one source

Packet health

  • Packet loss, reordering and duplicates per flow
  • Inter-packet jitter and bitrate
  • Format check: resolution, frame rate, sampling and depth from the SDP against the packets actually received
  • ST 2022-7 pairs: per-leg loss and whether a receiver could have reconstructed the stream

Alerts

  • Rules on any measurement with threshold and duration; defaults for flow lost, packet loss, PTP unlock and grandmaster change
  • Delivery by email, webhook and SNMP trap; alerts listed in the web interface with acknowledgement

History

  • Every measurement kept at one-second resolution for the recent past and at one-minute resolution for the configured retention period
  • Any flow viewable at any moment in that range, so an intermittent fault can be traced to the time and flow it happened on
  • Export of measurements for a time range for reports and acceptance records

Capacity

  • Full analysis of all video flows up to the media interface capacity; further flows sampled in rotation with presence and timing checks always on
  • Audio and ancillary flows analysed in full at any count
  • Appliance sized per project by number of flows and retention period

Management

  • Web interface with flow list, source view, clock view, alerts and history
  • HTTP API for flows, sources, clock state, alerts and history, for integration with broadcast monitoring systems
  • Metrics export for Prometheus-compatible monitoring, SNMP traps and syslog
